Is it time to move?

Image result for someone thinking

Selling your home is certainly a personal decision. Here are five points to consider:

  1. You want to take advantage of the current real estate market. Housing prices are just beginning to level off in many areas, but it’s primarily still a seller’s market.
  2. Your financial situation has changed and you want to lower your mortgage payments. A job change, divorce, serious illness, or death may call for a new living arrangement.
  3. Your family has outgrown your starter home. What was once a cozy little home for two may not be the ideal situation for a family of five.
  4. You’re tired of paying for maintenance and repair bills on an older property. When the most frequent visitors to your home are the plumber, electrician and appliance repair technician, then it may be time for a newer house.
  5. You’ve spent at least five years in your current home and you’re ready to move on. If you have positive equity in your home, then you may be ready to sell.

For more information on getting ready to sell, steps to selling, costs, time it takes and how to move simultaneously from your old home to your new please call, email, or text me.

Tranquil and technicolor: Interior design trends for 2019

This year, interior design is finding inspiration in wellness trends, plus throwing it back to the ’70s. Choose your look:

Intentional, sustainable design: Interior designers are leaning toward sustainability by using natural, reclaimed and upcycled materials. Look for rattan, linen and bamboo to be popular this year.

Houseplants continue to be trendy, and their health benefits appeal to wellness-conscious consumers. Wellness is also being reflected through calming, earthy colors such as terracotta, apricot and sage green.

“These are colors that ‘sit back,’ are soft and quietly composed,” says HomesToLove.com.au.

Bold, groovy style: In contrast to those soothing tones, you’ll also see vibrant, ’70s-inspired colors – think bright orange and yellow – in decorations and furniture. The rest of the primary color wheel is growing in popularity, too.

“From iridescent to full-out rainbow schemes, the technicolor palette has made major strides in recent years,” says Domino.com.

Curved couches and chairs are another ’70s throwback, says ElleDecor.com. According to TrendesignBook.com, bold floral prints on wallpaper as well as large geometric patterns for tile and statement ceilings will be popular choices this year, as a nod to the Art Deco era.

How to re-energize after the holidays

How to re-energize after the holidays

When the rush of the holidays comes to an end, fatigue can settle in as you try to adjust to your normal routine again. Here are a few small steps you can take to regain your energy and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Organize your desk.
It may seem like a small, menial task, but starting your week with a clean desk can do wonders for your productivity. Instead of feeling underwater in a sea of paperwork, having a clear workspace can reduce stress and encourage creativity.

Plan something.
Schedule a vacation, plan a party, or start a new project at work or at home. Having an event or a new challenge to look forward to helps you stay motivated and avoid the post-holiday slump.

Take care of yourself.
The holidays can take their toll on your mind and body, and the added stress often goes unaddressed. Take some time to exercise or do yoga, meditate, take a bath, or go to bed earlier than usual to help yourself reset.

Should you sell a home during the holidays?

Image result for christmas house

Traditionally, most sellers shy away from listing their homes in November or December. Some buyers, however, need to make a quick purchase before the end of the year due to a job transfer, estate settlement or other tax reasons. With very little competition in the marketplace, properties listed during the holiday season tend to sell more quickly and for a higher price.

If you’re worried about moving during the holidays, keep in mind that buyers often need to close by December 31, but they don’t necessarily need to take possession until January. That way both you and your buyers can enjoy one last holiday season in the old house before making the move.

Of course, the most pressing question is whether you should decorate your home for the holidays. Real estate professionals agree that homes show better with tasteful, festive decorations. Buyers can typically feel the warmth of the season and comfortably picture themselves living there. Be sensitive to different religions and use generic decorations that reflect a fall or winter theme.

Keep in mind the importance of curb appeal, and be sure there’s an attractive wreath on the front door to welcome buyers into their new home. Call me to learn more about selling during the Holidays and it’s benefits.
